There are new reports that Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi may leave the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and join a new party called the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Sources say they are unhappy with problems inside the ADC, especially leadership issues and how recent meetings were handled. At a meeting in Ibadan, opposition parties tried to agree on one candidate for the 2027 election, but Kwankwaso and Obi reportedly felt ignored.
People close to Kwankwaso say talks with the NDC are almost finished, and an official announcement may come soon. The NDC, linked to Seriake Dickson, is being presented as a fresh option for politicians who are not satisfied with existing parties.
Experts say if both men leave the ADC, it will be a big loss for the party. But for the NDC, it could quickly increase its popularity and influence.
However, some people are not sure if the new party is strong enough yet. Others also worry that frequent party switching could weaken the opposition. Still, supporters believe both leaders are just looking for a better platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
