The Presidency has announced plans to prosecute social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM), for allegedly sharing a fake audio recording of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Officials described the audio as “fabricated” and accused VDM of deliberately spreading misinformation to mislead the public and undermine the credibility of the presidency. The statement emphasized that the government will pursue legal action to ensure accountability and deter the circulation of false content online.
VDM, known for his outspoken criticism of political leaders and viral commentary on social issues, has not yet issued a formal response to the allegations. The case has already sparked debate on social media, with supporters defending his right to free expression while critics argue that spreading fake content crosses the line into criminality.
