The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has alleged in its latest report that about 30,000 Fulani militants are responsible for widespread killings, kidnappings, and violent attacks across Nigeria.

According to the report, the militants operate in organized groups across the North‑West, Middle Belt, and parts of Southern Nigeria, often targeting rural communities. Their activities have led to mass casualties, large‑scale displacement, and heightened religious tensions.

USCIRF noted that the Fulani militants have become one of the deadliest non‑state armed groups in Nigeria, surpassing other insurgent and criminal organizations in terms of fatalities recorded in the past year. Victims include both Christian and Muslim communities, with attacks sometimes timed to coincide with religious celebrations.

The report further highlighted that over 1.3 million people have been displaced due to these attacks, many forced into overcrowded camps with limited access to basic amenities.
