Reports from Iran International claim that President Masoud Pezeshkian has submitted an official letter of resignation to the Office of the Supreme Leader.

According to sources, Pezeshkian’s letter cited frustration over being sidelined by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which he alleged had taken control of key government decisions. He reportedly argued that this left him unable to fulfill his constitutional responsibilities.

However, officials from the presidential office have denied the report, calling it “false” and accusing foreign media of spreading misinformation. Deputy Communications Chief Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei stated that Pezeshkian remains committed to serving the Iranian people.

The conflicting accounts highlight the power struggle between civilian leadership and military hardliners in Iran. Analysts warn that if the resignation is confirmed, it would mark a historic collapse of presidential authority, further strengthening the IRGC’s grip on governance and potentially reshaping Iran’s foreign policy stance.
