Militant group Boko Haram has released 416 women and children who were abducted from Ngoshe, Borno State, according to confirmation from a local youth leader.

The release reportedly took place on June 6, bringing relief to families and communities that had been living in fear since the abductions. The victims, mostly women and children, were handed over to community representatives and are expected to undergo medical checks and counseling before being reunited with their families.

Community leaders in Borno welcomed the development but stressed that the incident highlights the ongoing insecurity in the region. They called on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities and prevent further kidnappings.

Human rights advocates also noted that while the release is a positive step, the trauma endured by the victims underscores the urgent need for stronger measures against terrorism and support systems for survivors.
