The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed that American forces have begun conducting “self-defense strikes” against Iran, describing the mission as a proportional response to unjustified Iranian aggression.
According to CENTCOM, the strikes were launched at 5 p.m. ET under the direction of the U.S. President, following the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter.
Officials emphasized that the operation is intended to deter further attacks and protect U.S. personnel and interests in the region. The announcement marks a sharp escalation in tensions between Washington and Tehran, with analysts warning of potential ripple effects across the Middle East.
