The Sultanate Council has responded to circulating claims that the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, visited IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in prison.

In a statement, the Council dismissed the reports as false and misleading, stressing that the Sultan did not visit Kanu in any correctional facility. Officials described the claim as an attempt to sow confusion and misrepresent the Sultan’s role, noting that he remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and religious harmony across Nigeria.

The Council urged the public to disregard the rumor and warned against the spread of misinformation that could inflame tensions.
