Woman Sues God After Lightning Destroys Home
Reports say a woman named Penrose filed a lawsuit seeking $100,000 in damages from God after lightning struck and destroyed her home, arguing the disaster was an act of divine intervention.
The case quickly drew media attention because of the obvious legal challenge: how to serve court papers to God and how any judgment could ever be enforced.
In some versions of the story, God did not appear in court, resulting in a default judgment in Penrose’s favor. However, despite winning the judgment, she received no money since courts have no practical way to compel payment from God.
