Nigerian Man Faces Deportation After Attempted Rape Conviction in UK

A Nigerian man, Qudus Ajeyemi, is set to be deported from the United Kingdom after serving a five‑year prison sentence for attempted rape and sexual assault in Hull, England.

Ajeyemi was convicted following an attack that left his victim traumatized. The UK Home Office confirmed that his deportation proceedings will begin once he completes his sentence, in line with immigration rules that allow removal of foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes.

The case has drawn attention to the UK’s strict deportation policies, which mandate that non‑citizens sentenced to more than 12 months in prison are automatically considered for removal.

Local reports say Ajeyemi’s appeal against deportation is unlikely to succeed, given the severity of the offense and the government’s stance on protecting public safety.
