The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the suspension of the office of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, as well as the position of Director of Radio Biafra.

According to a statement signed by Mazi Chikadibia Edoziem, Head of the Directorate of State of IPOB, the decision followed a full‑house meeting of the group’s leadership on Wednesday. The statement explained that intelligence reports concerning communications allegedly emanating from Kanu within Sokoto prison prompted the move.

The suspension marks a significant shift in IPOB’s internal structure, raising questions about the group’s future leadership and communication strategy.
