FG Orders Cement Price Reduction

The Federal Government of Nigeria has directed cement manufacturers nationwide to immediately reduce the price of cement, warning that the current cost is placing heavy pressure on ongoing infrastructure projects and fueling demands for contract variations.

Delivering a keynote address at an event in Lagos State on Sunday, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, stressed that inflated cement prices are undermining the government’s efforts to deliver affordable and timely construction across the country.

Umahi noted that the administration’s infrastructure drive — from highways to housing — depends on stable input costs, and urged manufacturers to align with national priorities by easing the burden on contractors and the public.
