Former adult film actress Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, popularly known by her stage name Amaranta Hank, has been sworn in as a senator in Colombia following her victory in the country's March parliamentary elections. The 33-year-old took her oath of office Monday in Bogotá as a member of the left-wing Historic Pact coalition.

Omaña will represent Colombia's Norte de Santander region for the 2026–2030 legislative term, having secured her seat after placing 23rd on the coalition's closed electoral list. The Historic Pact emerged as Colombia's strongest political force in the Senate elections, winning more than 4.4 million votes — 22.72% of the total — and securing 25 Senate seats overall.

Born in Cúcuta, Omaña worked as a journalist before entering the adult entertainment industry in 2017, leaving two years later to move into politics. She has pushed back against critics of her election, asking why a woman with an adult-industry background should be barred from public office. Beyond advocating for the rights and legal protections of adult-content workers, she says her Senate priorities will include mental health policy and sexual abuse prevention, along with a push to formally designate Cúcuta as a border, commercial and historic district.

Her rise follows an earlier controversial appointment as deputy minister in Colombia's Ministry of Equality, alongside fellow former performer Juan Carlos Florián, under President Gustavo Petro's administration — a move that had already sparked public debate before her Senate win.
