I Am Sorry, I Made a Terrible Mistake" — VDM Reacts After Losing 13,000 Followers Over P-Square Feud Comments

Social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has lost over 13,000 Instagram followers following backlash over his involvement in the ongoing P-Square family feud between Peter Okoye, his twin brother Paul, and their elder brother Jude. A friend alerted VDM to the follower drop, which he addressed in a video shared to Instagram on August 10.

"13,000 people have unfollowed me so far... Nigerians, I am sorry. I made a terrible mistake, forgive me. 13,000 people that have been giving me promotions and advertising, I am sorry," he said, adding that he had expected to lose closer to a million followers over the controversy. He also pushed back at critics, saying he doesn't need publicity from gossip blogs, telling followers, "I don't need that publicity, baby, I am God."

The backlash followed VDM taking Jude Okoye's side in the dispute, after which he said he had looked into the matter and would share his findings. Critics accused him of getting himself into a family matter without sufficient evidence, including Nigerian singer Cynthia Morgan, who alleged VDM sided with Jude — her former label boss — because she had rejected his friendship. Media personality Radiogad also questioned VDM's claims, saying he haven't provided concrete evidence despite releasing multiple videos on the matter.

VDM later announced he was stepping back from the case entirely, alleging Peter had tried to use him as a tool in the dispute. In his final assessment before withdrawing, he apportioned 40% of the blame to Jude for refusing to step down as P-Square's manager, and the remaining 60% across Peter, his wife, and others involved.

The underlying feud has escalated significantly: Peter began a multi-part video series on July 30, 2026, accusing Jude of mishandling royalty payments, and in a seventh instalment released August 6, presented what he described as EFCC-investigated bank statements alleging his brothers siphoned funds from shared Northside Entertainment accounts. He also alleged Jude threatened his life during a dispute over a US property. Jude has denied the allegations, maintaining the matter is already before the EFCC and the courts.
