The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has openly questioned the leadership abilities of African Democratic Congress chieftain Peter Obi, arguing that he lacks the qualities needed to address Nigeria’s challenges.

Speaking during a lecture on governance and political responsibility, Wike stressed that true leadership requires courage, firmness, and consistency. He noted that many leaders falter when faced with crises, pointing to governors who abandoned their platforms rather than standing strong.

“Leadership is not a smooth road. It demands strength, bravery, and the ability to remain committed to decisions,” Wike explained. He drew comparisons to Obi’s handling of internal disputes within the Labour Party, claiming the former presidential candidate failed to provide direction when it was most needed.

Wike further criticized elected officials who shy away from responsibility during political turbulence, insisting that such behavior exposes a lack of resilience. He urged politicians to remain accountable to the electorate, warning that their performance will ultimately determine their political future.

According to Wike, governance is a test of character, and those entrusted with mandates must prove themselves capable of leading through adversity. He concluded by reminding officials that their “report card” will be judged by the people who gave them power.
