A dispatch rider has lost his life in a fatal road accident along the Motorways inward Estate axis of Alapere, Lagos.
According to preliminary findings, the rider was struck by an empty tanker reportedly moving at high speed. The tanker, branded “NIPCO” and bearing registration number TTN‑776ZQ, rammed into the rider, leading to his instant death at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the impact was severe, leaving no chance for survival. Emergency responders arrived shortly after, but the rider was confirmed dead on the spot.
The incident has sparked renewed concerns about reckless driving and road safety in Lagos, particularly involving heavy‑duty vehicles. Residents in the area have called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and better monitoring of tanker operations to prevent similar tragedies.
Authorities are expected to carry out further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, while the victim’s identity has yet to be officially released.
